Sofia Mycyk

Sofia has appeared as soloist with the Hart House Orchestra in Toronto, in the Lyell Gustin Recital Series, and has presented a solo recital at the Dekker Centre in North Battleford. International performances abroad include solo and chamber performances in Valencia, Spain, Vaison-la-Romaine and Aix-en-Provence in France, and in Maine, United States. Summer festival experiences include PianoFest in the Hamptons, New York, and masterclasses with Paul Schenly, James Giles, Arie Vardi, Boris Slutsky, Dominique Weber, and André Laplante. She has performed numerous times at the Banff Centre of the Arts where she participated in a Winter Creative Music Residency in 2013. Sofia Mycyk holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Université de Montréal. Recent performances include solo piano, duo-recitals with saxophonists, guest artist with LOoP (Little Opera on the Prairie), and piano duo and trio in the 2015 Ritornello Chamber Music Festival. Sofia was appointed Music Director of the Saskatoon Opera’s tour The Brother’s Grimm by Dean Burry in 2014, and was the répétiteur for the Saskatoon Opera’s production of Madama Butterfly last spring. With the generous support of the Shevchenko Foundation, Worobetz Foundation and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, she is preparing to record a disc of solo piano music by Ukrainian composers.
