Mistral 5 are the Principal woodwind players of Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and the resident ensemble for the SSO’s chamber music series Music for a Sunday afternoon. Mistral 5 is dedicated to the performance of new music and the support of Saskatchewan composers. Hear them perform a wonderful new work, Sinfonietta for Wind Quintet by John Estacio (an Albertan, but that’s okay).

Listen to him describe his work here.

You’ll also hear other faces familiar to Saskatoon audiences; Evan Barber (violin), Carissa Klopoushak (violin), Cole Morrison (bass), Carman Rabuka (cello), and Heather Wilson (viola) will join forces with Mistral 5 in various combinations to share an afternoon of music perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

ON THE PROGRAM
John Estacio: Sinfonietta for Wind Quintet
Sibelius: String Trio in g minor
Mozart: Flute Quartet in D major, K.285
Beethoven: Septet in E-flat major, Op.20
